Speed Networking Event
October 18th, 2018
For the 4th year in a row, five transportation and engineering organizations will be joining forces to organize the Student-Professional Speed Networking event.
Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT), Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO), Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) will host the event at CTA Headquarters (567 W. Lake Street) on Thursday October 19, 2017, starting at 5:00pm.
This event is designed to give students (mostly college students close to graduation) a chance to hear from professionals in the transportation, engineering, or related fields and to interact with them. Usually there are questions or discussions about a typical day on the job or what coursework has benefitted the professional most in his or her career.
The setup will be similar to previous years. Students and Professionals will take seats in the room and each student will sit with a professional for 5-7 minutes and the professional will talk about what to expect from work in a their given field of expertise. After the time is up, students will rotate to the next professional and spend 5-7 minutes with that person. Students will rotate through the room until each student has spent time with each professional. The entire event lasts about 2 hours.
Students from Illinois and surrounding states are invited. Professionals representing education, engineering, transportation, government and related industries will take part.
This represents a great opportunity for students, but also for the participating organizations. This will be a great opportunity to interact with other major transportation-involved organizations in the region. Also, it is a valuable networking and recruitment forum as students will be getting their first interaction to many of these organizations and also potential employers.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
